Ensembl Human What's New v14.31.1 (2 June 2003)

Ensembl: Latest Developments
v14.31.1 data update
Ensembl Human release 14.31.1 is a minor data/schema update.

The new human data are
New EST gene predictions re-derived from the currently available aligned ESTs using more stringent parameters to reduce the number of artifacts in alternative splicing
New Compara data with additional subset of DNA/DNA alignments focused on highly conserved regions, for human/mouse, human/rat, mouse/rat and elegans/briggsae. Homologous gene pairs now include Zebrafish Ensembl proteins compared to human, mouse, rat and fugu.
New Protein Family data, including Zebrafish proteins.
New Vega manually annotated genes, in synch with Vega.sanger.ac.uk

Schema changes in v14
 Core
  peptide_archive table added
  gene_archive table added
  stable_id_event table altered - old_version and new_version columns added
analysis table altered - parameters column enlarged from varchar(80) to varchar(255)
mapfrag table altered - type column enum extended

 Compara
method_link table altered - 'method_link_type' renamed to 'type', and size changed
  method_link_species table altered - 'species_set' column added
  genomic_align_genome table altered - 'method_link_id' column added
  genomic_align_block table altered - 'method_link_id' column added

New Features in v14.31.1
New highly-conserved region track on ContigView
ContigView can now display a track of regions which are highly conserved between species, using the extended Compara data. The new tracks (labelled spp. high cons, e.g. "Mm high cons") are in addition to the old "match" track (now labelled, e.g. "Mm cons").
