Ensembl Human What's New v12.31.1 (1 April 2003)

Ensembl: Latest Developments
v12.31.1 data update
Ensembl Human release 12.31.1 is a minor data/schema update.

The new human data are
SNPs updated to the dbSNP 111 dataset
Updated 1Mb cloneset in the core database
Ensembl core geneset now contains Sanger 10k cDNA array mappings
Vega manually curated geneset now contains Affymetrix mappings

New Features in v12.31.1
   SNP display on ProtView
The peptide sequence display on ProtView has been enhanced to show exon boundaries, SNPs, and sequence numbering. Display of these data can be switched on via a dropdown menu, similar to the control of the enhanced cDNA display in TransView.

   Improved Scalebar
To make the BasePair level view more useful, the scalebar has been improved. It now should draw the scale lines between basepairs properly, and the scale numbers should be in useful major units of bases.

   Half-height Tracks
Due to the large amount of data ContigView displays, it is beginning to get a little crowded. To try and help alleviate this problem, you can now choose to show features at half their usual height. This option is available in the Decorations dropdown menu on ContigView.

   Click to Pop-up Menus
A new option on the Decorations menu of ContigView lets you specify whether the pop-up menus on features appear when you move your mouse over the display (the usual behaviour), or whether you have to click to make them appear.

   PDF image export
The export as an image tab in ExportView now gives you the option to export a region as a PDF format file.

   MartView updates
See the EnsMart homepage for details of Mart updates.
