How are these images generated?

The procedure for generating these images is as follows:

  • The contigs in the golden path are joined up to produce "Supercontigs" where the contigs overlap.
  • The chromosomes are split up into bins of a given length and the N50 length of that bin is calculated, and used to choose the colour.
  • The N50 length is the largest value of n for which 50% of the basepairs in the bin is in supercontigs with length n basepairs or longer.
